1. TIME TO IMPACT EXCITER
This is just a bunch of instruments. Where’s her voice?! The composition is done pretty well though. Can’t really call this an opener.
2. NEXT ARCADIA
Transitioned well from TIME TO IMPACT EXCITER. Good piano again. I hate the random few seconds where she starts to talk/sing really fast at the end of some verses. Don’t really like the ending either.
Considering the first time I heard this was on my trip to Japan when I walked into Animate and heard/saw: Nana screaming, flashy lights, and extreme drum
4. Silent Bible
Yay for the salvation. Heals one’s ears after hearing the evil that is Mysterion/Musterion. Reminds me of Shin Ai. For some reason I really like this song and all the other ones on this single. That doesn’t happen often.
5. Young Alive!
Ohoho. Another song that fakes you out with the opening. Expected to be a slow and not upbeat song due to the piano opening. Then the guitar comes in and it obviously isn’t. It’s pretty catchy but for some reason it reminded me of Hirano Aya. o_o The composition is also a bit generic, I feel. I’ll probably stop listening to it after a few more times, but this review is written on the first/second time I’m listening to some of these songs so w/e. What’s with the weird Engrish too…
6. SCOOP SCOPE
That “Scoop scope” at the beginning creeped me out a bit. Sounds a bit like Perfume. (composition not her voice) Is that more weird Engrish I hear? Not as catchy or upbeat as Young Alive! Too generic again. The chorus gets annoying after a while.
Composition is nice. Go traditional instruments! The beginning is good as soon as the instruments kick in. The more I listen to this, the more I begin to like it. This song has much more potential than it’s showing. I feel it never reaches a really powerful point when there were many places for it to continue on and become an amazing song. But it doesn’t. Sadly. The ending was kinda abrupt too. Another thing. Don’t turn it up too loud.
I hate this song. With a passion.
9. Natsu Koi Moyou
Slow song time. It kinda randomly sticks out in the album. Again, feels generic and too boring.
10. Koi no Yokushiryoku -type EXCITER-
I actually think this remix is better than the original. I actually liked the original too, so yay, IMPACT EXCITER did not completely fail.
11. Phantom Minds
Another life saver. Nana’s Nanoha material always seems to be good. Unfortunately, it’s nothing new.
12. Strobe Cinema
The song that sounds like it belongs in a Japanese made movie about France. Now we need to come up with a word like Engrish. Oh well. At least this twist doesn’t make it boring and actually makes it a little bit catchier.
13. Toraware no Babel
DDR song? Somewhat catchy. Drags on at the end. Yep. Totally a DDR song.
Gosh this album is flying all over the place isn’t it? Like Sing All Love’s genre variety. Nana’s vocals are nice but I think she goes a bit too low sometimes.
15. Don’t be long
More Nanoha material. Didn’t like this song that much in the first place, but it is passable compared to *cough* Mysterion *cough.*
16. 7 Gatsu 7 Ka
Pretty harp. It suffices for an ending. Her vocals get a little weird and some points.
Average rating: 5.8
It’s passable. But I didn’t like any of the new songs that much besides Dragonia and that could use a lot of improvement. Silent Bible and Phantom Minds pretty much saved this album. It also helps that I was cleaning a Nendoroid while listening and reviewing this album. The majority of this was just white noise. In one ear, out the other. I may just buy it at a later date to hopefully get it on sale and for the regular edition cover art. Astrogation FTW!
Certainly, IMPACT EXCITER does not live up to expectations. If you’re gonna go buy something, go buy ULTIMATE DIAMOND or Great Activity.
