Old review time! Once again, I apologize for the lack of posts. D:
1. Take off
Serves purely as an introduction to the ⊿ album. Counting down from 8, each number is said 4 times until it stops and leads right into “love the world.”
2. love the world
One of my favorite Perfume songs, it definitely deserves to be on the ⊿ set list. If you don’t trust my opinion, you can just look at the Oricon rankings. It’s the first techno song to debut at the number 1 slot. Upbeat and simple, which is a great combination for Perfume.
3. Dream Fighter
Dream Fighter is another one of my favorite Perfume songs. However, it gets a little repetitive in the middle of the song. The beats aren’t catchy enough to last for four and a half minutes. The beginning, ending, and chorus are great though. I think the fact that the techno part overwhelm’s each singer’s individual voice does more harm than help.
4. edge (⊿-mix)
This is the album remix of “edge” from the “love the world” single. This song doesn’t catch my interest much as I feel it takes too long for the voices to actually kick in. Once they do, it’s not a very powerful impact either. It does start to pick up in the middle of the eight minute long song though. The variations after about three minutes help the song along until the ending, where it starts to repeat again.
5. NIGHT FLIGHT
One of the greatest Perfume songs. Ever. Just listen and you’ll understand what I mean. Probably the best five minutes and twenty-one seconds of the entire album.
6. Kiss and Music
The background beat is really catchy. It’s a very laid back song. Catchy like most other Perfume songs and really easy to get into the beat. Short and sweet too, only two and a half minutes so it doesn’t get boring at all. The chorus is great in this song as well.
7. Zero Gravity
The song begins with the sound of waves on a beach. Then it immediately goes to the song. It’s on the softer side, but still upbeat nonetheless. The chorus is excellent again. But the factor of repetitiveness is called into play once more. It’s one of the longer songs on ⊿ and it does not manage to keep my interest for longer than about half the song.
8. I still love U
Not the catchiest song and pretty boring. I was working on something else while listening to this and didn’t even remember listening to this until I got to the next song.
9. The best song
The voices are too high and computerized way too much. It’s extremely unnatural but it sounds great this way. The instrumental is catchy too. Compared to “I still love U,” this is much better, but it is certainly not “The best song,”
10. Speed of Sound
The album begins to pick up with this song. The lyrics are very interesting and the instrumental is well composed. Extremely catchy, especially with the one word lyrics.
11. One Room Disco
Another one of my favorite songs by Perfume. Though not as catchy as others, I think the intro to this song does a great job of grabbing the listener. When the vocals open up, it’s got a really powerful impact. This song isn’t as computerized due to the fact that it’s slower and more simple so the true vocals of each singer are able to shine a little more.
12. Negai Album mix
A great ending to the ⊿ album. There’s violin incorporated in it too! Slow and the perfect way to settle down after an upbeat song. The voice of the singers are able to penetrate through the almost nonexistent techno beats in this song and it’s a great example to hear who sounds like what. Perfect to end a fun filled day!
