It’s been quite a long time since I’ve last done a figure review and I apologize for that. ^^; In commemoration of trying to establish a “quality over quantity” blog, here is my opinion of Nendoroid 10, Nagato Yuki. In case you forgot what the categories I’m judging on, here they are: packaging, sculpting/painting, posing/articulation, base, and enjoyment value.
Let’s get the easy things out of the way first.
I bought Nagato used from Mandarake during my time in Japan and unfortunately, she came with a broken base. I have an extreme dislike towards the older Nendoroid bases as it is very simple to snap the part connecting the base and the figure. I hardly ever use the base (mostly because I can’t/I’m too terrified of Nagato toppling over).
Next up is packaging. The packaging follows the pattern of the rest of the Haruhi Nendoroids. I love the light blue color of Nagato’s box as well.
Like the figmas, the extra plastic used to store everything is included as well and provides a nice place for all of Nagato’s accessories. However, it is still susceptible to being squished, as it kind of was on the trip back from Japan. For some reason, the yellow “NENDOROID” print in the box matches very well with the light blue. :l
The sculpt and painting of Nagato is very accurate. There are certainly less defects/mass production mistakes than with the more current Nendoroids. The only problem I have with her (and this applies to the older Nendoroids as well) is her extremely heavy head.
I just received Nendoroid 5@5044 (censored for surprise!) a few days ago and was shocked at how light the head was.
Nagato’s posing and articulation is subpar in my opinion. Her standing legs keep popping out of their sockets. However, the arm accessories that come with her are great. The open book can even rotate. Most of the time, I just display her sitting in the chair and reading the book. She also comes with a pair of optional glasses.
Nagato comes with a good amount of accessories and certainly matches her price.
For any Haruhi fan, she is a must get, especially with her smiling face. I’m especially happy at the way her faces turned out, making the moe level go over 8000. Though she is not as dynamic or doesn’t come with as many accessories as Nendoroid 5@5044, Nagato is still a cute addition to any Nendoroid lover’s collection. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE BASE DEFECT! ^%$#*(&%
