Japan Day 7

Day 7 was my last day in Tokyo (1 day for the airport but that doesn’t really count!). I went to visit Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, Ginza, and Tokyo Tower. I also made one last trip to Akihabara to go to Yodobashi Akiba. I think I got tired of snapping photos all the time, that’s why these posts are getting less and less photos. ^_^;

Japan Day 6

Flickr photos. Bigger and better.

Today resulted in me waking up at 6 am to catch a Shinkansen. Back to Osaka. I visited Osaka Castle, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi during the Sengoku period. Well, I visited the renovated one since the original was ravaged by World War II. The inside of the castle is a museum. They tell the story of Hideyoshi from his childhood and also display many paintings and the like from the Sengoku period. At the very top, there is also an observation deck.

Larger Photos for Your Viewing Pleasure.

I finally reached Tokyo! Today was going to be a dedicated shopping day for me.  First I took the Yamanote Line from Ueno to Hamamatsuchou for the Tokyo Pokemon Center! No pictures inside though. Remember, I am cowardly. DX

Japan Day 3

Bigger (and more!) pictures at Flickr: Click here!

Today started a little later than day 2. I went to Kyoto Station and I think I took a local express line to Nara. I was planning on visiting Nara Park, Toudai-ji, Koufuku-ji, and Isuien Garden. I managed to make it to three of the four and sadly, I missed the garden. Probably because I was too busy stalking the other students that were there on their school trip. (I couldn’t help it! At least I’m a student myself so it doesn’t make me feel that bad. Yes, I am a coward.) There were a bunch of Sika deer here too! (Nara is famous for its deer, isn’t it?) I bought some deer cookies to feed them and they swarmed me. Initially it was frightening, but in retrospect, I think it was kinda funny. It was such a nice day too!

Koufuku-ji first.

Japan Day 2

EDIT: Flickr account here for more photos for Day 2 and on. My Day 1 photos are at Photobucket but there isn’t much to see there (I stopped using PB since the uploading was messed up…)

I started my ventures from Kyoto by heading off to Hiroshima first. After arriving at Hiroshima-eki by Shinkansen from Kyoto (JR Pass for the whole country is extremely helpful and money saving), I went on the JR ferry to Miyajima/Itsukushima, home to the famous Itsukushima Shrine.

I'm pretty sure this says some sort of welcome to Miyajima Island/Dock

Japan Day 1

Banzai! I’m finally getting started on these posts. Ikuyo!

I took an ANA flight from Beijing International Airport (which is very spiffed up and nice looking) to Tokyo Narita International Airport. I arrived in the land of the rising sun at around 1:30pmish. I even managed to watch Summer Wars on the flight! It was a great movie, a must see.
